Some temporal adverbs & examples:

nie – never

Er geht nie ins Kino. – He never goes to the cinema.
Ich war noch nie in New York. – I’ve never been in New York.
Warum rufst du mich nie an? – Why do you never call me?

fast nie – almost never

Peter ist fast nie zu Hause. – Peter is almost never at home.
Er geht fast nie ans Telefon. – He almost never answers the phone.

selten – seldom

Sie gehen nur selten in die Kirche. – They go to church only seldom.
Markus geht nur sehr selten ins Kino. – Markus goes to the cinema only very seldom.
Peter hat nur selten Zeit für seine Kinder. – Peter only seldom has time for his children.

manchmal – sometimes

Martin geht manchmal spazieren. – Martin is going for a walk sometimes.

ab und zu – from time to time

Klaus geht ab und zu schwimmen. – Klaus goes swimming from time to time.

oft, häufig – often

Klaus geht häufig ins Fitness-Studio. – Klaus goes to the Fitness-Centre often.
In Frankfurt scheint oft die Sonne. – In Frankfurt the sun often shines.

fast immer – almost always

Maria ist fast immer zu Hause. – Maria is almost always at home.

immer – always

Uli geht am Abend immer in die Kneipe. – Uli always goes to the bar in the evening.

The question for all the temporal adverbs above is „WIE OFT?“ (HOW OFTEN?)
